Did you see her? The one in a blazing red costume like Deadpool, but with blonde locks. Yes! We’re talking about the Lady Deadpool MCU flaunted in the recent ‘Deadpool & Wolverine | Everyone’ Trailer. And that’s not all; we saw a dog dressed up in the Deadpool suit as well. As we mentioned before, S**t is about to hit the fan!
Who is Lady Deadpool, and what’s her origin story?
Wanda Wilson, aka Lady Deadpool, belongs to an alternate reality named Earth-3010 and is Deadpool’s female counterpart. She is from a rebel group known to be against the loyalists of the state. In her reality, the United States government is repressive and has the support of Captain America.
General America happens to be her arch-enemy (Yes, you heard that right). General America, in simple words, is a promoted version of Captain America who works for the US government. Rogers, while serving, encounters Deadpool from Earth-616, who is teamed up with Lady Deadpool. And that’s how the long-running battle between the two begins.
Their battle comes to an end when Headpool from Earth 2149 bites Steve’s arm. That’s when two other Deadpools knock him down, and the Deadpool (the one we know) chops off his infected arm to prevent a zombie outbreak.
That escalated quickly, didn’t it? Well, that’s how the MCU works. They keep bringing in new movies, whether or not you like them. Despite the collections (which are always high), they establish a narrative. Then, they introduce the characters needed to pull off the ultimate storyline from the comics. And boom! Before you even realize it, you’re anticipating a movie that’s showing war between multiple heroes.
P.S. Lady Deadpool also joins the ‘Deadpool Corps’ in the comics, which is something on another level. It’s a group of Deadpools from various universes who’ve gathered to prove that they’re worthy. There’s also an
instance in the comics where Deadpool gets so frustrated with the storylines that he decides to kill all of his counterparts in every universe.
Who is the dog dressed up like Deadpool?
The dog has a name, and it’s called Dogpool. Yes, the dog is also a version of Deadpool from another universe. It was originally a test subject for mutation and was a part of many dangerous experiments. After a series of mutation attempts, the dog falls unconscious and looks like it’s dead. Thinking of it that way, the researchers leave him in the facility. Later, when it gains consciousness, it finds itself equipped with unbelievable superpowers. It has regenerative abilities, helping him heal all on his own from any kind of injury, just like Deadpool.
After earning the title of ‘Deadpool the Daredevil Dog,’ it’s approached by Deadpool 616 from another universe. And that’s how it gets hired for the Deadpool Corps. So, it’s not just Dogpool that we’re talking about here; we’re looking at Deadpool Corps. That’s an entire group of Deadpools from different worlds. It’s known to be among the most deadly and chaotic groups in Marvel comics.
MCU, are you planning on escalating things to a level we don’t believe to be true?
Lady Deadpool’s Powers Explained
Lady Deadpool is just as cool as OG Deadpool, a little more, to be honest. Here’s a look into her superpowers:
- Regenerative Powers: Wanda has superhuman healing abilities similar to that of Wolverine. It allows her body to regenerate destroyed or damaged body muscles and tissues at a speed much faster than a regular human. She can heal injuries like puncture wounds, slashes, severe burns, and bullet wounds within a couple of seconds. You’d be amazed to know that she can even regrow entire organs and limbs.
- Telepathic Shield: This is among the most insane sets of skills that Lady Deadpool possesses. She is immune to the Telepathic attacks of mutants such as Professor X and Jean Grey.
- Extreme Chemical Resistance: Lady Deadpool has no effect of drugs and toxins on her body whatsoever. For example, it is very difficult for her to get dizzy with alcohol. She can, although, get affected by some drugs, like tranquilizers, if and when exposed to a big enough dosage.
- Disease Immunity: Lady Deadpool’s constantly active regenerative abilities help her stay protected from all kinds of infections and diseases. That makes her immune system prone to literally nothing.
- Insane Stamina: Lady Deadpool experiences relatively close to zero fatigue compared to a regular human being. She can keep doing exhausting physical activities for weeks before she starts feeling tired.
- Superhuman Reflexes: Wanda has reflexes that are extremely enhanced and far superior to that of the finest human sportsperson.
Lady Deadpool’s Weakness
No superhero (heroine) is complete, and there are always some types of weaknesses. Here’s what makes Lady Deadpool, aka Wanda Wilson, weak:
- Her own Head: Just like our OG Deadpool, Wanda finds it extremely difficult to ‘not’ be annoying around others. That being said, it’s troublesome for a team to stay on the same page as her. Most of the time, most of the people just want her gone.
How does it impact the MCU?
It can be said that ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is going to be a world-opener like ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ MCU is busy preparing a base for its future projects, and they’re big!
So far, through the trailers of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ and ‘Captain America: Brave New World’, we know that:
- Red Hulk, aka ‘Thunderbolt Ross,’ will be introduced
- Elektra has been teased
- Lady Deadpool has been teased
- Dogpool has been introduced
- They showed Hulk in the trailer
- Hulk is a member of the Avengers
And guess what? According to the comics, Thunderbolts once got into a fight with the Avengers. This was because they tried breaking out the supervillains kept in high-security S.H.I.E.L.D. prison. Now, we know that the name for the upcoming The Avengers movie is ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’. That makes us think that it could be about a war between the Thunderbolts and the Avengers. Sounds crazy? It most definitely does!
